September is kind of an intense, even extreme month, especially for Virgo. Part of the intensity is due to the global influence of Pluto square Uranus. This is the sort of influence that is not under your personal control; it represents big events like weather events such as heat waves and so on. Part of the intensity is because one party to the square, Uranus, is in your already intense 8th house. And part of it is because intense Mars has decided to spend the entire month in extreme Scorpio.
Mars will be in the part of your chart that governs people and things nearby—your neighborhood, your neighbors, the stuff in close proximity. This isn’t necessarily bad. You may simply find yourself engaging in unusually heavy conversations on serious topics with people that you might normally be expected to have a light and casual relationship with. You might even find this stimulating or fascinating. Or not—depending on the kind of people around you!
And of course, this is the month when the sun’s in your sign and that makes it a more notable month to begin with. But the intensity doesn’t die down even when the sun and Mercury enter mild and moderate Libra. These inner planets will just set off Uranus and Pluto, irritating the outer planets further. In fact, September is just a preview of even more intense times to come because next month Saturn enters extreme Scorpio for the beginning of a 2 ½ year stay.
You can look at it this way, though, if you choose. The purpose of all this planetary brouhaha for the Virgo solar chart is to get you to closely examine your deepest ideas or to investigate exotic new ideas you would never normally consider looking at. That’s one of the purposes of planetary challenges – to jolt us out of the ruts of our thinking by providing us with new perspectives, even if those perspectives cause friction at first.
Speaking of which, if you are a conscientious voter, the time to examine the politicians you have to choose between is during the first week of the month, when the political sector of your chart is in a relatively mellow yet interested mood. Don’t let world events distract you from your career too much, though. September is not a super-hot month for your career, but October holds a lot of promise. Get yourself teed up for success next month. A person only has favorable Jupiter in his or her career house once every 12 years and this is your year. Make career a priority.
And that brings us to your year ahead. Career should be, to the extent you can make it so, a top priority until the middle of 2013. You will also probably find that the next 12 months have a depth and a heft to them, at least in terms of your mental and interior life, that many years do not have. To use rather a crude phase, your mind is going to be going balls out in whatever subjects or projects you choose to take on. The attitude will be sort of all or nothing, do or die, do it completely or don’t do it at all.
Yours is known as a detail-oriented sign anyway. During the coming 12 months, your mind will want to study the details of whatever you take in and explore them in much more thorough way than you might have been anticipating. Sometimes people call this ‘getting into’ something. Like ‘that’s the year I got into studying meditation with my guru.’ The object of your interest may not be a subject, though; it could be a person or a relationship.
A person, such as a love interest, could introduce you to things you don’t normally encounter or wouldn’t normally consider doing. I won’t say you’ll be traveling to the Arctic circle to learn all about the Northern lights—but you could be. It’s not so much that your world opens up during the next year, as that you may have a chance to sort of find a wormhole to some exotic landscape of experience or of the mind, a shortcut to some unimagined destination. You could also find a relationship to be very healing in some respect you hadn’t anticipated. The eclipses of the year highlight the worlds of ideas and their intersection with relationships – which goes right along with what we’ve been talking about.
Financial worries may ease, and you may be able to expand your savings. The investment outlook for the next 12 months isn’t too promising though, and your solar chart does not appear to fare well when it comes to non-ordinary financial matters, such as insurance settlements and so on. Make sure your home is well protected against potential weather damage, especially toward the end of 2012.
In general, you may also find that the next 12 months bring less abrupt change than the last couple of years have. That is, unless you haven’t experienced much change during the last of couple of years, in which look at the end of 2012 (November and December) and the middle of 2013 (May and June) as the times when the universe could throw you a curve ball or two. Overall, though, there’s less activity in your sign during the next year than in the one just passed. You may not like the relative quiet, because there’s less cosmic energy at your disposal. That’s okay, though, remember Jupiter is trying to make things easy in your career, so take advantage!
