May is another eclipse month, with both a solar and another lunar eclipse on tap. Eclipses are wild cards, crazy 8s that like to upend the game and send it spinning in a whole new direction. The effects they have depend on your own particular situation and the effects may be most noticeable during a period lasting from about a month before the eclipse date to about a month after.

The topics of discussion in the Cancer solar chart as the month starts out are your love life and your children if you have any. New developments in these arenas thanks to last month’s eclipse in your solar 5th house could have you buzzing. With Venus in this part of your chart until the 16th (and sexy Mars in your relationship sector), you could be in such a good mood that you may not care what the rest of the world is doing.

Your romantic and/or child-oriented thoughts will be focused on one specific person, as focused Saturn in single-minded Scorpio dominates the long-term agenda when it comes to love and children. In fact, with Pluto in Capricorn in your relationship sector and Saturn in Scorpio in your dating sector, you have an interesting mutual reception going on in your chart.

You could call this mutual reception “the laws of love.” Your chart is determined to figure out what works in relationships and what does not.

After the 10th, the topics become your workplace and/or your travel plans. Long-distance and/or international travel may be on the agenda. The travel could be related to work or your career. With romantic Neptune in your solar sector of foreign travel, it could also be romantic. Christmas in Paris is not entirely out of the question.

Your chart will be feeling seasonally generous and concerned with peace on earth, goodwill to men. Jupiter in your solar 12th house is in an equally good mood, bouncing around in the background of your chart, humming a cheerful tune.

At mid-month, Uranus in your career house stations on the day of the new moon in Sagittarius, the 13th. When a planet stations (stops and changes direction), it’s often unusually powerful. Uranus in your career house is in charge of pushing you, reluctantly or enthusiastically, toward new frontiers of knowledge and development of your professional life. The vibe is one of discovery.

If you’ve been working toward something professionally, you may see a bit of noticeable progress in the middle of December.

The end of the month gets a little deep. Mars enters your mysterious solar 8th house on Christmas. And there’s a reflective full moon in your sign on the 28th that could have you feeling a bit contemplative. Memories and feelings could get pulled up as the year winds down, making you want to think about what it all means.

November is eclipse month, with a solar eclipse in Scorpio on November 13 and a lunar eclipse in Gemini on the 28th. Neither eclipse takes direct aim at your sign, and both may be relatively weak or unnoticeable. The lunar eclipse may cause you to question someone in your life you had previously trusted or bring a secret to your attention that answers some questions but opens up others. This is most likely to be about someone you know through your job or community activities.

For single Cancers, the solar eclipse on the 13th is more about exploring new possibilities in your love life. Your chart will want you to make whatever changes necessary to get your love life going. For example, if you never get out of the house, you need to start going places and interacting more adventurously with the world. If you feel you are ready to settle down, then you need to make a systematic plan for meeting someone suitable. Laziness in this area will not work for your solar chart anymore; it will want to see you put in some effort.

Mars in your relationship sector from the 16th on adds to this theme. Mars in your relationship sector expects you to carry the load of making the first move in relationships. If you do make the first move, though, you’re more likely than normal to get a response because Mars makes you noticeable, makes you stand out. This does not necessarily apply just to romantic relationships by the way; it can apply to any personal relationship or your social life in general.

Now I’m not saying you can’t spend any time at home. In fact, you have Venus in your home life sector until the 21st. This gives you planetary permission indulge yourself in a little pleasure enjoying your hopefully lovely home.

On a different front, work is likely to be quite busy during the first half of the month and possibly quite sociable too. If you like a lot of activity, you will probably find the first two weeks of November at work fun. If you do not, you may very well find them stressful. Mercury goes retrograde in your job sector on the 6th, an astrological event that may open up a lot of unanswered questions or un-decide decisions that you thought had already been made.

On a final note, Neptune in your sector of long-distance travel and exploration spends the entire month at 0 degrees Pisces, stationing on the 11th. There’s a chance that a dream trip you’ve been yearning for make take a step closer to reality this month. If you’re not dreaming of travel, then Neptune in Pisces can open up your intellectual or spiritual horizons instead.

The stars first turn their attention in October to your home, residence, and domestic matters, courtesy of planets in Libra. Spending money on your home is possible during the early part of the month. If you’ve been carrying a lot of burdens or expenses related to your home over the past couple of years, you’ll be pleased to know that Saturn is leaving this sector of your chart on October 5. The heavy energy will be gone.

The stars also turn their attention to your love life and things you do with other people, courtesy of planets in Scorpio. By October 5, both Mercury and Saturn will be in Scorpio, and Mars will just be finishing his tour there. Scorpio is interested in all sorts of joint ventures and medicine as well as your love life and group activities. For some Cancers, this translates into a fascination with all things medical (which sometimes turns into hypochondria) or forming relationships with people who work in a medical field. In general, Scorpio likes to systematically investigate whatever topic catches its attention, so you may find yourself feeling an uncharacteristic need to be very thorough in the first part of the month.

On a longer-term note, Saturn’s entry into Scorpio signals potential changes in your life. Saturn likes thriftiness and to pare things back. It does not like to be overloaded. The 5th house, the part of your solar chart that Saturn will transit, is related to things you do for recreation, your social life, and so on. If you have a lot of friends, Saturn may encourage you to prune back your connections and concentrate on the ones that are most important. You may feel this most especially around the time of the full moon in Taurus on the 29th.

In addition, October sees the inauguration of energy in Sagittarius and your solar sector of employment and service. Sagittarius is an intellectual sign, an explorer, a questioner. If your work is not already intellectual in nature, it may become more so, or you may be exploring employment options at this time. You have full permission from the stars to engage in such exploration up until Thanksgiving. By the way, Sagittarius is also your health sign, and it likes physical activity. Might be a good time to take up a sport or exercise routine both for fun and for health reasons.

Venus is also in Virgo for most of the month. Virgo is your sign of conversations, interactions, and messages. Sometimes this kind of energy translates into many people wanting answers from you on various topics or lots of attention at your workplace. It also relates to learning and the use of reason, a theme that could be called an overall focus of the month.

So let’s start with career. Uranus in your career sector is grumpy with Pluto in your relationship sector all month. You also have a full moon in your career sign on the 29th. The most common manifestation of this kind of energy is simply a lot of pressure at work. Everybody needs something and they need it on deadline.

An example would be someone who works for a company with a fiscal year end at September 30. Everything for the previous fiscal year has to be done by then. For those who don’t work in a situation with such an obvious deadline, that’s still the vibe. People want things closed and completed and they want them finished within a certain time frame. Because the first half of the month is also heavy on Virgo influence, the bottom line seems to be that you are simply quite busy.

If you somehow manage to escape work pressures, then other people will compete for your attention – neighbors, relatives, random people on the street. Virgo is also your education sign, so you may be taking a short class or busy learning something for your job. Whatever it is that is eating up your time, it appears that you wish it was something else much more fun.

There may be quite a bit of activity on the home front, too, as planets move into your home life sector mid-month. Your best bet may be to try to get as much done as possible during the first week or two of September, when you are likely to be at your sharpest. If all this sounds like too much, I suppose you could use the influence of Neptune in your travel sector to sneak away, especially if you were born at the very beginning of your sign.

If you are going to get away, make sure you do it with someone of your favorite sex, for you have Mars in your dating and romance sector all month. I’m not going to guarantee that you’ll have a whole lot of time to take advantage of this, but if you do, this influence is good for all you swinging bachelors and bachelorettes out there. Good places for connecting with your favorite sex this month include concerts and all types of events that include music. Lectures and book signings and other intellectual-y type events could also be good bets. Activities that take place in nature are another possibility.

New-agey and alternative health venues could also do the trick. So would virtually any gathering relating to an area you have a deep natural curiosity about. You have lots of choices for ways to have fun or get romantic – if you can get the time to engage in them!

August sees the communication planet in your solar second house of income. For most people, the second house represents salary or wages earned on the job. The implication is that August is an important month for you in terms of conveying information at work, especially if you want to increase your income. You need to let those in your workplace know exactly why you deserve more money!

Your income-related new moon takes place on August 17, so you want to get your ducks in a row before then, so you can make your pitch by mid-month. If you don’t specifically make a play to get more money, you’ll probably be thinking about money or talking about it.

Sometimes Mercury in the second house also relates to gossip at work, especially gossip about who’s making what amount and why. Cancerians in general have been and continue to be subject to a certain amount of instability in the workplace, thanks to eclipses and the presence of erratic Uranus in their career sector. Sometimes the overall atmosphere of instability is reflected in the financial conversations taking place in the company. In August, the time of greatest volatility is around the 8th, when Mercury goes direct.

Fortunately, Mercury is generally a cheerful planet, and much of the month has a relatively cheerful vibe, conducive to hanging out and general companionship. Part of this is due to the long-overdue entrance of Venus into your own sign on the 7th. With Venus by your side, you not only have a better shot at that raise I was mentioning, but you have a certain ability to get in tune with your general preferences and desires.

In other words, you know what you want, so it is easier for you to choose to get it. Venus can be lazy, though, so you have to make a deliberate choice to take action!

Just as importantly, Mars moves into Scorpio this month, on the 23rd. Scorpio is your love sign, and there hasn’t been much action in your love sign in quite awhile. Mars moving into Scorpio is significant because it presages a lot more astrological activity in your love sector in the next couple of years. As soon as Mars moves out of the sign, Saturn moves in. Plus, starting in November, we’ll have eclipses in this sign.

When Saturn moves into your love sector, he’ll be trying to give you an education in the ways of lasting love. He’ll make you work for your rewards, though, so be prepared to put some effort in. Overall, this upcoming shift toward Scorpio is a big deal–and I’m happy for you.

The new moon is when you are most responsive to psychic forces (whatever that term may mean to you) and is therefore a very potent time. But nooooo, the universe is pulling a fast one this month, and sneaking in an extra Gemini new moon on the 19th because the universe is all about Gemini energy these days. So, for the time being, you’ve got to go with the Gemini flow–which means a mental emphasis, lots of talking, keeping things light, an emphasis on casual relationships, being social, lots of changes, hanging out with the relatives and siblings, focusing on details, taking classes or hopping in the car for a road trip.
