March is traditionally Pisces month, at least until the sun moves into your sign to mark the beginning of spring. Pisces is the sign designated to care about those less fortunate, about cosmic connections, about spiritual compassion, and a lot of do-gooder-y feelings if not always actions. It represents your solar 12th house, which means its effects are supposed to take place behind the scenes. In other words, you’re not ‘supposed’ to lead with your do-gooder-y feelings but they’ll be trying to nudge you just the same. This is the time of year when traditionally the focus of the inner planets is on your 11th and 12th houses. Well, let’s see what’s going on this month, Cancer. Mars has been retrograding in your solar third house of the mind and mental activities. This is not a particularly stable influence, but in March, Jupiter, Venus and Pluto come riding in to the rescue. They form a very nice grand trine with Mars the week of the 12th, indicating that other people (friends, mates, etc.) can smooth things out if you’ve been carting around worries or other forms of mental distress lately. There’s a lot of emphasis on thoughts, ideas, and opinions in your chart this month. We’ve got Saturn holding down the fort in your solar 3rd house of thinking. Saturn here strongly suggests that you evaluate your ideas these days based on cold, hard rationality rather feelings or intuition. Uranus, the sun, Mercury and Venus in your solar 9th house of opinions believe that you should go with your first instincts, your impulses or whatever suddenly occurs to you. Meanwhile, Mercury goes retrograde this month in Aries, on the 13th, and moves back into Pisces on the 23rd. This influence tends to mush up emotions and thoughts in a big jumble of indecisiveness.

This month your ruler Mercury moves into Aries on the morning of the 2nd, and then starts retrograding in that sign on the 12th. Pisces energy gets all up in your face in March. The sun opens the month in the sign, and Neptune and Chiron have settled in and made themselves at home there. Mercury goes retrograde in Aries at mid-month and slides all the way back into Pisces on the 23rd, where he stays until April 16. Add it all up and it’s a lot of Pisces influence. The Mercury retro phenomenon mushes up emotion and communication until you know neither what you’re feeling nor what you’re saying.
