Good Article on Midlife Transitions

Phoenix

Phoenix

From Lara Owen, reprinted from Mountain Astrologer magazine.

Phoenix Rising

It has a nice hopeful tone and deals with more transits than usual (including the Chiron return). It makes some things sound a bit easier than they are (believe me, following a pregnant woman’s diet will not by itself make hot flashes go away). But it has solid examples and a nice listing of midlife transitions for men and women and their effects on the various houses.

New Moon Manifestation Suggestions

New Moon by Marcel-Jan Krijgsman

New Moon by Marcel-Jan Krijgsman

The new moon in Gemini occurs on Sunday, May 24 for folks in the US.

Below is a listing of the solar houses this affects for each of the signs. The idea is to do a manifestation ritual for that area of your life. Get out in nature, do a meditation, set an intention, make a wish, etc. The symbolism is that the conscious and subconscious minds are aligned, allowing you to align your own life for better results in that area.

As usual, you can to go Practical Astrology for more keywords for the houses. Scroll down to see them.

Aries: Gemini represents the solar 3rd house of the relationships in your daily life or near environment (neighbors, siblings, casual acquaintances, etc.)

Taurus: Gemini represents your solar 2nd house of possessions and material objects.

Gemini: This is your own sign of course, and this new moon represents your birthday wish. Wish for whatever you’d like.

Cancer: Gemini represents your solar 12th house of escapism. My escape is old movies. Yours might be dancing. Whatever it is, you can make an intention to include more regularly in your life.

Leo: Gemini represents your solar 11th house of hopes and wishes. Wish for something you’ve been longing for for awhile.

Virgo: Gemini represents your solar 10th house of responsibilities and career achievement.

Libra: Gemini represents your solar 9th house of new and broadening experiences (such as travel).

Scorpio: Gemini represents your solar 8th house of loans, debt, and obligations.

Sagittarius: Gemini represents your solar 7th house of getting along with other people.

Capricorn: Gemini represents your solar 6th house of job and health.

Aquarius: Gemini represents your solar 5th house of fun and love affairs.

Pisces: Gemini represents your solar 4th house of parents and your family.

My New Motto

Walden Pond by Nicole Lawton

Walden Pond by Nicole Lawton

I literally got this from a mug that I saw in a bookstore but it fits:

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you’ve imagined. –Thoreau

It fits because this is what astrology readings are all about, as least as far as the way I do them. They are about helping people go in the directions of their dreams to live the lives they’ve been imagining. In some ways, that is what a natal chart is. It’s a map of your soul’s imaginings. Its dreams.

A natal chart is a legitimate map. Unfortunately, it is written in symbols that take a long time to learn how to decode. It would be so much simpler if we were born knowing the language of our maps and having them stapled to our baby garments! Then we could just refer to them as needed.

But since it doesn’t work that way, astrology is a valuable tool. There is nothing more joyful to me in life than when a client gets through a transit and achieves a dream. It’s wonderful. I love it. And I’m lucky to be able to do something I love.

Word Contest

May 21, 2009 By: Victoria Bazeley Category: Uncategorized

1132275_blackboard_abcThis has nothing to do with astrology. I just liked it. Supposedly it’s from the Washington Post’s  contest where they ask readers to take any word from the dictionary, then alter it by adding, subtracting, or changing one letter, and then supply a new definition.

1. Cashtration (n.): The act of buying a house, which renders the subject financially impotent for an indefinite period.

2. Intaxication: Euphoria at getting a tax refund, which lasts until you realize it was your money to start with.

3. Reintarnation: Coming back to life as a hillbilly.

4. Foreploy: Any misrepresentation about yourself for the purpose of getting laid.

5. Giraffiti: Vandalism spray-painted very, very high.

6. Sarchasm: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person who doesn’t get it.

7. Inoculatte: To take coffee intravenously when you are running late.

8. Uno: What you insert, you know, while, you know, you are deciding what you will say next, you know.

9. Hipatitis: Terminal coolness.

10. Osteopornosis: A degenerate disease. (This one got extra credit.)

11. Karmageddon: It’s like, when everybody is, like, sending off all these really bad vibes, right? And then, like, the Earth explodes and it’s like, a serious bummer.

12. Decafalon (n.): The grueling event of getting through the day consuming only things that are good for you.

13. Glibido: All talk and no action.

14. Dopeler effect: The tendency of stupid ideas to seem smarter when they come at you rapidly.

15. Beelzebug (n.): Satan in the form of a mosquito, that gets into your bedroom at three in the morning and cannot be cast out.

Free Aries Horsocope for June 2009

May 20, 2009 By: Victoria Bazeley Category: FREE MONTHLY HOROSCOPES, aries monthly horoscope

If you were born near the earliest part of your sun sign, you’ve been getting some lessons from Pluto in Capricorn in your solar career house. Pluto’s lessons are rarely easy, and often words like annoying and irritating are a vast understatement. All Aries will undergo this tutelage at some point, which means all Aries could use a few pointers now that Pluto’s retrograde and summer’s here–which mean you might have a moment to catch your breath. Pointer #1: Streamline your work routine and guard your energy!

Really. If your schedule allows you any time whatsoever, do that now, while a bit of the pressure is off. Figure out what you can streamline or nuke (Pluto’s the planet of nuking things) and how you can conserve your energy (Capricorn is the sign of conserving things). You may not think this is all that necessary right this moment, but believe me, by this fall you will be really glad for anything you took off your plate now. Think less, not more.

The other thing to do in June is have your friends over to the house. You’ve got a mighty excess of friendship energy these days, and you’ve got entertaining from your home energy after the 21st. Why not combine them? Could be fun.

Free Taurus Horoscope for June 2009

May 20, 2009 By: Victoria Bazeley Category: FREE MONTHLY HOROSCOPES, taurus monthly horoscope

I don’t know what the heck is going on in your career in June, Taurus, but whatever it is, you’d probably benefit from trying to keep things simple. There’s just an excess of energy in this part of your solar chart these days, and Jupiter in Aquarius will be egging you on towards biting off more than you can chew. A ‘first things first’ approach to organization may help stave off any overwhelm. The good side of all this is that June is not likely to find you lacking in money or skill to deal with things.

That’s cuz June is your traditional money month, when the sun’s in Gemini and your solar second house of yup, money. Gemini is also a sign associated particularly with skills in daily life and it’s in good angle to all those planets in your career sector. The days around the 17th are the best as far as alignment between the sun and the planets in Aquarius. After the 21st, the sun’s in Cancer in your solar 3rd house, also to your benefit in the skills department.

The one thing that you may be lacking is alone time. You may be a sociable Taurus or a private Taurus but every Taurus needs a little ‘me’ time. Not too much of that on the horizon in June, and even though you are a patient soul there may be those moments when you just wish everyone would leave. The overload should ease off at some point next month, if that helps.

Free Gemini Horoscope for June 2009

May 20, 2009 By: Victoria Bazeley Category: FREE MONTHLY HOROSCOPES, gemini monthly horoscope

June is the birthday month for most Geminis, and this is a time of the year when you are typically slated to have a busy schedule. If you were born around the 17th of June, you may feel that your schedule is both overactive and yet oddly heavenly. That’s because Uranus will be squaring your sun all month at the same time that Neptune is trining it all month. Even those of you not born at this time could be singing in the rain like Gene Kelly one minute and weeping into your pillow the next.

This influences of this dynamic duo of outer planets get even more complicated when we consider that one of them is beaming its rays from your solar career house. You could find that your mood (and your career) is very much contingent on what other people do, rather than on what you were kinda sorta planning to do when you got around to planning things, which, if Neptune has anything to say about it, you haven’t actually done yet. For some Geminis, interaction with a mentor is what’s providing the drama. It may be an untraditional mentor, but if you can find one to latch onto, then latch.

Uranus is offering you a chance to engage in some productive experimentation, and sometimes the best motivation for that is to have someone’s footsteps to follow in. Makes the journey less scary or more exciting or both. To use another movie reference (from When Harry Met Sally), this is a good month to say ‘I’ll have what she’s having!”

Free Cancer Horoscope for June 2009

May 20, 2009 By: Victoria Bazeley Category: FREE MONTHLY HOROSCOPES, cancer monthly horoscope

June starts out with your chart in pre-birthday month contemplation mode. You may not feel much like reviewing the year that’s past and gauging your performance, but your chart does. Wouldn’t be a bad idea to cooperate with it. After you’re done reviewing the last 12 months, pick one (just one) major project or goal for the upcoming 12 months and set an intention or wish around it. Then come June 22 (new moon in your sign, yay!) write it down and then put the piece of paper somewhere where you won’t look at it all the time. Then watch your wish magically come true by this same time next year. Couldn’t hurt!

After the 21st, of course, the sun’s in your sign, which means you get to do whatever you want! If you were born around the 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th, probably no one will be able to stop you from doing what you want. That’s because Uranus is trine your sun all throughout June and July. Actually, from late May to halfway through August. That’s incredible. And incredibly good. Time for that dream trip to Paris maybe?

Free Leo Horoscope for June 2009

May 20, 2009 By: Victoria Bazeley Category: FREE MONTHLY HOROSCOPES, leo monthly horoscope

I’d love to tell you to take it easy in June, Leo, but you’re probably not going to. After the 21st, the sun will be in your solar house of ‘please let me get some rest,’ but Venus and Mars in your career house will not be tired. Mercury’s already in your career house as of May 13, so you’re probably already quite active with career matters. Mars in particular will want to keep you running when it comes to all things relating to your professional life, no matter how much the sun would like to take a break.

So…if you need to show people samples of your work in order to impress them, June would be the month to do that. In fact, after the 21st it would actually be preferable to let your work do the talking rather than you. If you can rustle up some behind-the-scenes career jockeying, the time for that would be around the new moon on June 22. The nice thing about all this is that with Venus at the top of your chart, you’re in line for some appreciative applause for your efforts. Leo loves appreciative applause, so that should hopefully make everything worthwhile.

On another front, if you’ve got kids or lovers to worry about, set a good example for them around the 7th of the month, as they are likely to be watching you at the full moon in Sagittarius.

Free Virgo Horoscope for June 2009

May 20, 2009 By: Victoria Bazeley Category: FREE MONTHLY HOROSCOPES, virgo monthly horoscope

At the full moon on June 7, you will probably be concerned primarily with something having to do with your family. Whatever it is, it is not a new issue, but something instead that you are trying to wrap up. It’s possible that you will need some additional information in order to resolve the problem. Trying checking out a new book for inspiration.

At the new moon on June 22, you begin a period of playing mother to your friends. Or maybe they’ll be playing mother to you.

Another theme of the month has to do with a lot of activity in the sign of Taurus. Mercury, Venus, and Mars will be in the sign during June. Taurus represents your solar 9th house. This house has to do with a variety of things. One of them is travel; another is religion, and a third is education. You know better than I which of these areas is most likely to be important to you (maybe all three). Perhaps you’ll be traveling in order to further your religious education. Could happen. But I’d put my money on a bit of a summer vacation. Whatever it is, enjoy!

Free Libra Horoscope for June 2009

May 20, 2009 By: Victoria Bazeley Category: FREE MONTHLY HOROSCOPES, libra monthly horoscope

It’s that time again, Libra. Yep, time for more career-related energy as the sun moves into Cancer and your career zone on the 21st of June. If you were born near the beginning of the sign, the days around this new moon are likely to make you feel that you are being pulled in many different directions. If you were born near the end of the sign, it’s the first week of the month that’s likely to be more stressful. Born in the middle of the sign, you’re virtually home free.

There will also be many planets in Taurus in June–Mercury, Venus, and Mars. Sometimes having many planets in a sign indicates that you’ll be dealing with many people either of that sign or with the qualities of the sign (i.e., fixed or stubborn). Since Taurus represents your solar 8th house of the past and endings, you may also be dealing with people from the past or with people  who are bringing something to an end.

We can’t forget the importance of Gemini energy, either, for that will be in play throughout the month, also. Gemini represents religion, philosophy, ethics, or spirituality in your solar chart. You may find that these subjects are on your mind throughout June.

Free Scorpio Horoscope for June 2009

May 20, 2009 By: Victoria Bazeley Category: FREE MONTHLY HOROSCOPES, scorpio monthly horoscope

Oh yes, there’s a big concentration of hot sweet energy in your partnership sector in June, Scorpio. With Uranus lingering in your solar 5th house of surprising love energy, some of you will meet up with someone new, and you will like the results.  There’s also energy in your sector of joint money matters, too. Time to pull out the stops and use your charm skills to strike a favorable financial deal with someone you’re close to.

If you act fast (before the end of the first week of June), you may even be able to butter up someone enough to land yourself either a new job, a better job, or an improvement in the job you already have. After then, Venus will leave your job sector for the year after a long stay, and you may notice the absence.

One thing you might do with a partner or significant other is indulge in some overseas travel. Your annual new moon in your 9th house of foreign travel takes place on June 22. If you go before then, be careful with your money. There’s a full moon in your financial second house, and every once in a while, this is associated with a loss of money during foreign travel. The 9th house also represents religion and church activities, so you may want to increase your participation in these kinds of activities.

Last but not least, Uranus is spending the whole month at 26 degrees Pisces, while Neptune is spending the whole month at 26 degrees Aquarius. The good news about this is that Uranus is set to deliver the insights and revelations, while Neptune provides the inspiration and the need for said insights and revelations. This holds particularly true if you were born in the days around the 17th. This is a good thing, so be grateful!

Free Sagittarius Horoscope for June 2009

May 20, 2009 By: Victoria Bazeley Category: FREE MONTHLY HOROSCOPES, sagittarius monthly horoscope

June is one of those ‘however,’ and ‘on the other hand’ kind of months. All month long, there’s energy in your 7th house of striking a balance and looking at both sides of things. As any Libra can tell you, a keen eye for the howevers and on-the-other-hands can lead to indecisiveness. So you may experience a bit of that. If you persist however, you’ll be able to come up with win-win solutions to life’s little daily dilemmas. And, as any Libra can tell you, that sort of thing increases harmony in your life all around.

Take note, too, that the long happy transit of Venus to your solar 5th house comes to an end at the end of the first week of June. Enjoy, while the enjoying is good. If you’re looking for news about lovers or children it may finally arrive.

Last but not least, there’s a whole bunch of energy in your job and health sectors. Expect many comings and goings in these areas of your life. Mercury will be in your solar job and health sector for the first half of the month. Venus will be in your job and health sector after the first week. Mars will be there throughout the month. Basically, this mixed bag of inner planets indicates that the general however and on-the-other-hand vibes will play out (perhaps most prominently) in these very areas of your life. Or, as the French say, c’est la vie.
